《周礼．地官．逐师》：「巡其稼穑，而移用其民，以救其时事。」

《左传．襄公二十六年》：「晋士起将归时事于宰旅，无他事矣。」
当时的事情或事物。
《红楼梦．第六二回》：「这用时事，却使不得，两个人都该罚。」
最近发生的国内外事件。
《文明小史．第四○回》：「母亲天天在家里，没有晓得外面的时事，如今外国人在那里要中国的地方，想出各种的法子来欺负中国。」如：「时事报导」、「时事分析」。
时事，指最近期内的大事。出自《大司马节寰袁公家庙记》。
